First - hello again! I’ve missed you!
I have been spending most of my time with my Mighty Networks Group and making new vids for YouTube! I am doing a new YouTube Series called Plant-Based Basics, so if you haven’t checked them out yet, here is my latest video I just uploaded on Saturday. Hope you enjoy it.
And also, today is a day of reflection, as it was this very morning 5 years ago that I had a stroke.
I remember I felt just plain weirder than normal🤣 and asked my wife to take me to the doctor (I know - dumb move). I was slurring my words but refused to entertain the idea it was actually a stroke. The doc took one look and said "Get to the ER, NOW (stupid)".
For the next 24 hrs I was poked and prodded until they confirmed that yeah - I had what they called an Ischemic Stroke.
I remember that like Chef AJ and her cancer, I was afraid to tell anyone. And I was ANGRY.....so angry because Why?!?! I have been eating a WFPBBO diet for years now! WHY?!
And I still remember the doctor who said. "You know, I see a lot of stroke victims come in here, and they usually don't end up so well. So don't be mad that you had a stoke as a vegan.... be THANKFUL that you ARE vegan, because it probably saved your life."
I have an older YouTube Video where I talk about it.
And I am thinking of doing a 5 year reflection video this weekend.... what do you think? Or would you rather have another food video instead.
Maybe a , "What's so great about Soy Curls" video.....
Thoughts?
I think reflecting back on a journey of any value in our lives is not only smart, but it's heartfelt and just as important as committing to a healthy diet. There is a lot of value in bumping about and reflecting honestly, sharing and "cleaning the dust" out of the mental and emotional corners of that quiet, dark attic up there (aka the cranial space/brain pan.) Go for it!
We’re glad to still have you with us. Thank you for sharing your journey (and recipes!!!) with us. :)
